Sequence test with potential end

Getting there with the video, not quite finished. Also looking through renders such as this one I can spot some errors that need ironing out. Throughout the sequence in the various scenes not all the assets are continually rasterised so some of the images come out pixelated when scaling up. The timing needs a little tweaking to fit with the sound and so that each piece of footage flows well into one another.I have also changed the text in the top left hand corner, so that there is a clear signifier that the footage has changed.

End screen for title sequence

Similare to the start of the title sequence the video will end in a similar way. This video is a quick test, the sound that is going to be included is similar to at the start of the video, the series of beeps. At the end of the video it will cut to the title of what my top ten is.

Error Message for title sequence

For the end of the title sequence the file footage corrupts, these were some possible solutions for the idea of an error occurring and the title sequence coming to an end. I think that the first video is better suited to what I am trying to achieve as the other video seems to over the top.

Omar Little Tests

Revisiting my existing Ident that I had created, I looked to improve it and make it fit in with my other 3 idents. To do this I have changed the text, visuals and audio. The audio is now just the gunshot and Omar whistle and I am using a limited colour palette of just 3 colours at the most on screen at anyone time. The text is in the same typeface, with the visual assets of the characters being silhouettes.

Title Sequence Test with idents

This is a test piece for my title sequence, it combines the idents with the opening log in screen. I am going to include all 4 character idents within the title sequence potentially and experiment with the transitions between each of them. This is the first 28 seconds of the video so far.

I also want to experiment with the ident footage, to try and create it to look like it is cctv footage as it will fit into the idea of someone viewing the files on a computer.

CCTV Clock

Running with the theme of having the idents within my title sequence, I wanted to link in with how the viewer is seeing these pieces of footage through the computer. I have created a counter timer using text frames, which counts up the longer the different idents are playing.

Opening to Title Sequence Tests

This is the initial start to my title sequence. The idea behind it is someone logging onto a computer and searching through the various characters files. This will allow me to use footage from my idents to create the title sequence as they include characters from The Wire.

From this initial video I have expanded on the use of the computer, adding sound to simulate someone typing on a keyboard and the various noises as the computer loads the data.

D'Angelo Ident Tests

Just a couple of tester videos for my final ident for D'Angelo Barksdale. I have tried out two ways to illustrate the 'green' of the audio. The video below is what I had planned to do from my storyboard and below that is an adaptation of what I had planned to create when I was working with the illustrated assets.

Above is my original idea from the story boards, compared to the video below I feel that it isn't as affective when trying to emphasise the 'Green' within the audio.

Re-developing Final Idents

This was going to be one of my final idents but I am going to rework it to incorporating the closing eyelids that are featured in the video below. I also need to add in the title of the top ten in all of the idents. 'Top 10 Characters from The Wire'.

I am going to take elements of both videos and combine them.

I think that compared to my other Ident that this ident portrays the character as well.

Type Test

An example how I can animate the type in the videos. The idea behind it is the text is being typed on a computer screen.

Money Ident Test 1

With the knowledge from creating my previous Ident, I have started with the audio and I am going to work my visuals around it.

Ident test with sound 2

I slightly extended the Ident to just under 14 seconds which is slightly over the briefs specification. This was just to fit in all of the audio as at 10 seconds it was cutting it short. This video rendered without the title and background for the last 4 seconds of the video. In this test piece I have also increased the volume of the audio as before it was quite hard to hear.

A screenshot of timeline; each of the different assets is colour coded with a clear label, this helps keeping on top of the timeline much easier.

Ident test with sound

After playing around with the sound, I found that the audio I wanted to use wasn't suitable for the visuals I were using. I have timed the eyelid closing to the sound of the breathing , which will need fine tuning to get it more in time. I also plan to use an illustration of the character walking towards the screen, potentially fading from a silhouette to the illustrated asset.

Eyelid test with text

Using the second eyelid test I have just added the channel 4 logo and the title of my top 10 program.

Eye lid Test

The idea behind this is to emulate eyelids opening and closing. As these videos are out of context I just wanted to test how I could create the effect of the viewer seeing through the eyes of some.
The second test is more successful, adding a slight curve to when the frame reduces in size makes it clearer that the eyes are opening and closing.
