All the variations below have been done from the typeface that I created.
Just filling in the horizontal strokes for all the letters in upper case. I think that this is to minimal and it is very unclear which letters are which. Each letter needs to have some sort of structure to it so that people can differentiate one letter from another. Underneath the horizontal strokes I have taken a stroke from above the x height and a stroke below the x height, this method works a lot better in terms of being able to tell what the letterforms are. This is something that I am going to further as the letters would need some work to refine the rule to tie them in as a set. Below this is the same idea using less of a stroke.
Again just using the vertical strokes doesn't work. Below that I have sliced the letters in half having the top half on show, this works better but again there are letters that are very similar. Letters like H, I and J and the most effected by this rule and all look very similar.
